I read the Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield several years ago and loved it. Here's a little description of the book
"Reclusive author Vida Winter, famous for her collection of twelve enchanting stories, has spent the past six decades penning a series of alternate lives for herself. Now old and ailing, she is ready to reveal the truth about her extraordinary existence and the violent and tragic past she has kept secret for so long. Calling on Margaret Lea, a young biographer troubled by her own painful history, Vida disinters the life she meant to bury for good. Margaret is mesmerized by the author's tale of gothic strangeness -- featuring the beautiful and willful Isabelle, the feral twins Adeline and Emmeline, a ghost, a governess,a topiary garden and a devastating fire. Together, Margaret and Vida confront the ghosts that have haunted them while becoming, finally, transformed by the truth themselves."
And I thought with all the movie rights of books usually snapped up soon after it being published. I thought sure enough this would be turned into a movie. So I waited because I so very much want to see it as a movie.
But 4 years have passed and I haven't really heard any news of a movie to it. I mean, whats not to love about this book. There's a great manor. There's a reclusive writer. There's a big family secret. And there's the stranger who's arrived to uncover the secret. I think it has an interesting plot for a movie. There's few good gothic drama and I think this could potentially make for a good one.
What are your thoughts? Do you want to see a movie of the Thirteenth Tale?
