The Scene: Dead Poets Society - Truth Like a Blanket That Always Leaves Your Feet Cold
Dead Poet's Society is one of my favourite movies. And this is one of the scenes that definitely stood out. Todd played by a very young Ethan Hawke is the new boy in school, he's timid, nervous, awkward and fearful. And in this scene, Keating played by Robin Williams puts Todd in front of the class to face his fear and brings out a poem and the artist that lies within him. Raw and powerful. "Don't you forget this" Keating said. I didn't.

ReplyDeleteOne of the greatest shows, I agree.
:) Glad you think so too.
ReplyDeleteSaw this in high school (or even Jr high?) and totally fell in love with Robert Sean Leonard's character. It's one of the best school-themed dramas IMO. Robin Williams is quite a versatile actor, he's great in more serious roles as well as the obvious comedic ones.
ReplyDeleteHaha...my movie crush was Todd/Ethan Hawke. And yes I agree this is one of the best school-themed dramas. As for Robin Williams. He's a funny guy, but he overdoes the slapsticks a lot, so I prefer his serious roles. And I do think he has had more recognition critically for his serious roles as well.
ReplyDeleteRobert Sean Leonard was robbed. He SO deserved an Oscar nomination for this!
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorites as well. What a movie, what a scene. Everyone deserves a teacher like Keating.
ReplyDeleteGreat addition here -- and love your site, btw. Nice look to it. I will have to come back often. This is a classic scene -- I always get goosebumps here....
ReplyDeleteThanks.
ReplyDeleteYes...its a classic indeed.
