Ok...not exactly the most recent news but I've just stumbled upon it. According to Entertainment Weekly Evan Rachel Wood will star in at least two episodes of True Blood near the end of season two. She will be playing Sophie-Anne, the vampire Queen of Louisiana.
I'm not familiar with most of the Sookie Stackhouse novel characters but supposedly she's this 500 year old charming and ruthless Vamp who's had relationships with major figures in history. Cool...sounds like an interesting character...and Evan Rachel Wood is soo pale with that porcelain skin of hers...she probably looks the part already. But get this, from the comments I've heard at some places...Sophie-Anne was 15 when she was turned into a Vamp...and she's supposed to look innocent and childlike, like the child she is suppose to be. Yes another child Vamp we have here (recently Dakota Fanning was cast as Jane in New Moon, a child Vamp...though she is the age she is playing...and more than a decade ago Kristen Dunst played Claudia in Interview With the Vampire).
Of course I don't think Evan Rachel Wood quite looks like a teenager anymore...but I can't imagine them getting someone in their mid teens taking on such a role for a show such as True Blood. And there's the other problem of the teenager growing up on screen, if the character makes more appearances in the seasons to come. And since I have not read the Sookie Stackhouse novels, I have no idea how Sophie-Anne is to actually look like (other than the looking childlike part). Does Evan Rachel Wood look the character...not taking in the whole age factor...Or should they have gotten someone in their late teens or early 20s who look like they're 15?
