I've only just seen The Spirit teaser trailer...and it looks cool. Now I don't exactly know much about the story...for now it pretty much sounds like the typical super/anti hero of the graphic novel world. Plus it also looks quite a lot like Sin City...with the splashes of red among the black, with the whole film noir thing going on...of course thats not much of a surprise since Frank Miller is helming it as director and writer. But seeing his success with 300 and Sin City ( I actually rather like both movies)...we can expect this to be another entertaining and visually stunning flick. I'm looking forward to this one.

A New The Picture of Dorian Gray In The Works

The Picture of Dorian Gray is one of my very favourite books...and I've been wanting to see this on screen for a long time. Actually scratch that...I've seen one adaptation thus far...and it was the 1945 one with Hurd Hatfield as Dorian Gray and Angela Lansbury as Sibyl Vane...and I did not quite like it. I tend to find most (not like I watch much) very old movies (like before 1950's) just very staged...very fake...the actors have this very glassy eyed looked when they're suppose to be crying and yet no tears come out and even when there are tears...its like drops of water were placed there and all we see is it rolling off the actors cheeks. And I remember this one scene in The Picture of Dorian Gray where Basil was stabbed...its just soo fake, so staged...so over done...And well so I did not like the movie.
So I have always hoped to see how a more recent adaptation would be. Of course there has been a few since the 1945 one. In fact according to IMDB in the 2000's there has been 2. One in 2004 with Josh Duhamel in the title role and another in 2006 with David Gallagher as Dorian...but those two never got a wide release and it never reached Singapore...and I never got to see them. :( . They also didn't get good ratings on IMDB.
So now finally...finally there's news of another adaptation of The Picture of Dorian Gray in the works. You can read a post on ComingSoon.net here all about it. Ben Barnes is set to play Dorian. Now he's the Prince Caspian in the new Chronicles of Narnia. What can I say? He is good looking enough to play the role. Though I have always pictured someone like...hmm...maybe Ryan Phillipe to play Dorian...good looking and I find him to have a certain look/air that would possibly make him the perfect Dorian...but its too late now...he's way too old. Remember Dorian is suppose to be like 21.
Anyway...I'm pleased that a new adaptation is being made. Now hopefully this one gets a good release and that it actually lands here and so I can finally see one recent adaptation. Cool. Now I wonder who else will be in this movie.

Posters Galore: Choke
Yes its true Chuck Palahniuk's book Choke has been made into a movie. If you haven't heard? Where have you been? Some small clips of the movie and interview with the cast and Palahniuk has already been circulating online too...I posted a link to it here somewhere. Just click on a related tag and you'll probably find it. Anyway....now the poster has been released. Look below.
What do you think? I'm not a complete fan. Love the colour choice...just not the whole choking on the girl aspect thing...but it is very artsy like and cheeky...giving us both a guy who constantly chokes himself and is a sex addict...it does grab attention does it not?

Mr Magorium's Wonder Emporium (2007)

This was definitely not one of the best watches of this year. In fact its probably one of the worst flick I have watched. I should have stayed away from it. I think movies that revolves around Toys tend to suck...remember a movie called Toys with Robin Williams...I may have been just a little kid then...but I knew a horrible movie when I saw one...and after seeing the trailer of this one...I had a feeling this wasn't a good one. But because it was a pretty new flick out on dvd for rent...I thought lets just watch it. And I was right, it wasn't good it wasn't good.
Lets see... its suppose to be a movie about a magical toy shop, but seriously isn't all that magical. I mean the viewer was meant to be swept away by the magic right? I wasn't. The story was weird and bland...I can't even remember what the message was in the movie? Something about believing in yourself? Growing up? Bringing out your inner child? The characters too were well boring...and we never really get to know much about them. What? Who is Mr Magorium? Who is Mahoney...other that a pianist who has not lived up to her potential. Why issit that Mr Magorium hires an accountant now. Why not a century ago?And Dustin Hoffman as Mr Magorium was in constant weird smile mode...his face was so tight with that ear to ear smile...it looks like a lot of botox was pumped.
Ok maybe I'm being a tad mean...I know its a kids flick and all that, but come on where was the magic? There was no magic in the film. I have a feeling it bore kids too. And I can't believe all these talented actors commited to such a dead liveless magicless flick...what a waste of talent and what were they thinking?
Twilight Movie - Behind the Scenes Pictures

Heads Up. Just saw plenty of new Twilight behind the scenes pics at Worst Previews. Click here to see. Apparently its a treetop scene. Now I've heard this was something they've added for the movie...meaning it wasn't in the book. I wouldn't know...I have yet to finish reading it. And if you look at pictures 15, 17 and 23...I noticed that the guy in the big blue windbreaker...kinda looks like Robert Pattinson...don't you think? Dark bronze hair...pale skin and thick eyebrows...they look like they're related. That, or he's the stunt double.
So like I've mentioned...I'm currently reading Twilight. Its really engaging...It really does pull you in doesn't it and I'm enjoying the read so far. Now I know how Bella hates Forks...cause its cold and dark and wet...at least until she meets Edward. But Forks sounds interesting to me...it sounds appealing...the cold...the snow...the woods...the big trees...it sounds so pretty and beautiful. Oh well...I guess its the heat in Singapore...its getting to me. Cold Forks sounds like a great escape. Can't wait to see Forks on screen too. Now wait...does Forks actually exist or issit fictional?

Twilight Poster Has Been Released

I know, I know ... I've been posting a lot of posts on Twilight lately...I can't help it. Its everywhere right?...Plus I'm reading the book...so naturally I'm excited to see the the flick. And it looks like they've released the poster too.
Hmm I dunno...Its ok I guess. I'm not really into posters that just focuses on faces...it just seems very plain and simple. But this is only the first poster...they might have others. Hope its a tad better.

Twilight Teaser Trailer is Out
The post title says it all. I'm quite surprise... they've released it quite fast...haven't they?...just a few days after that new official pic...and didn't they like just wrapped filming? Well go on and watch teaser below.
Hmm...I dunno...its still quite early on...there might more edits to the actual flick, and this is after all only the teaser trailer. I've also read some comments on some threads...some have brought up the weak looking font of the title in trailer...I kinda agree...It's a bit sparklely and magical looking for the title of a vampire flick...kinda looks more like the letterings for Sabrina the Teenage Witch...don't you think? Was this the same lettering used for the title of the book? I can't quite remember. But it does look awful all sparklely like that.

And the camera work...not like I know much about any of it...it did seem that there was some shaky camera work...maybe they were trying to do the amateur kinda look...you know the whole realism kinda think...no idea what you call that method/look/effect? Notably the scene where Bella and Edward were between the cars...and the other one where Bella said she wasn't afraid of Edward.
Oh well six more months or so before we get to finally see the whole thing. Looking forward to it.

My Sassy Girl (2001)

***May Contain Spoilers***
I'm not much into romantic comedies...and the Koreans are very popular for their romantic comedies. In fact...there's been somewhat of a Korean kraze in Singapore for sometime now...from their movies and tv series ...most of them, romantic comedies and romance dramas are very popular here. Anyhow, pretty much the reason I'm watching the movie now is cause an American remake has been made. And so before, if and when, I actually watch this remake...I would want to watch the original...we all know how most remakes could never live up to the original...in fact most of them tend to suck right? So a few weeks ago I finally watched the original.
So how was the movie? Let me see...the beginning...the meeting of the two leads was pretty funny. But the middle was too draggy. The movie actually centers around two twenty somethings. The guy ...goofy, mild mannered and laid back who meets this complicated aggressive loud girl by chance. They start to see each other more often...where the girl basically bosses him around making him do some crazy stuff that's suppose to be funny and screaming Do You Wanna Die...and if he hesitates would slap him around sometimes...Ok some people might find this all funny...but somehow I didn't...I'm not into these slapstick kind of comedy. I found the girl to be absolutely crazy and infuriatingly annoying...She's loud...bossy...pulls these exaggerated faces...Seriously you wonder why this guy still follows her around...sure she has this sad little story that she's keeping a secret which the guy knows nothing off but feels very sorry for and somehow feels its his job to keep her happy... at his expense I might add...I just found the whole thing over the top...and that its a horrible excuse to treat people like crap just because life drew you a bad card. And like I said it was just way too long... draggy...The middle part is just the girl stringing the guy around for one and half hour.
Ok so although I did not enjoy most of the film...and would not consider it the best romantic comedy ever (like most of the comments I've read)...I do think that the last 10 minutes of the film did save the movie for me. The scene with the couple and his aunt at the cafe finally made sense of everything...It is one of the sweetest ending ever...and it was pretty smart how they tied all the loose ends in the end. So though I'm not a fan of the flick...I do think that this is a film worth checking out. Especially now that a remake is soon to be released ...lets see if the remake is able to recapture everything that was able to make the original soo successful.
New Official Twilight Movie Picture

Well well...it seems that Cinematical.com has been one of the first to get their hands on the first official Twilight pic that not only has the Cullens but Bella as well. Cool. We finally get to seen everyone in the same pic. Though I'm not much of a fan of this pic. Looks very tweaked, worked on or airbrush or whatever you call it. But I have to say...Wow... Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen looks so crazy out of this world and might I add, so ghostly grey and pasty pale...that of course he can't be human...very Vampy indeed. So click the link here to read the Cinematical Twilight post and to view a much bigger version of the picture.
Twilight movie news aside....I finally bought the Twilight book. I got tired of waiting for the book at the library...its always been out on loan. Hmm...but it will be awhile before I'll start reading it...still got a couple of library books left to read. Though I would of course read before the flick comes out...I don't want the movie to spoil the book...but in a way it already has hasn't it...I would already be picturing the cast as the characters...oh well.
Oh, and while I was at the bookstore on Friday I also saw Stephenie Meyer's new book The Host. So I was rather surprise to find out today, that in the US, it will only be released Tuesday which is on 6 May. Haha...so I guess we got an earlier release date here...kinda funny a tiny island getting it first. It happens with movies too sometimes.

MTV Twilight movie Clips

Twilight has been getting a lot of hype...and getting even bigger lately I think. Anyway I just watched a couple of clips of Twilight from MTV.com. Apparently some of them have been released quite some time ago...they look pretty cool, just like to share some of the links. You can watch them at MTV.com here and here.
I've also been reading some stuff online about if Twilight can be the next Harry Potter (Including a post on SlashFilm which you can read here). I doubt so. I mean Twilight is still huge...but Harry Potter huge? I don't think so. Harry Potter for one reaches a bigger demographic...little kids to grandparents...whereas Twilight I think would appeal more to preteens to adults who like the vampire fantasy genre. And the whole looking like The Covenant thing. I'm afraid there is a danger of it...simply cause Twilight does have a relatively small budget...and when you still try to do some of the ambitious action sequences...it can look cheap and bad. So I thinks its much better when films with a small budget to concentrate on the story...the drama. That's what I hope Twilight does...stick more to the story.
Posters Galore: The Chronicles of Narnia Prince Caspian
With its release date nearing...The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian has released several more posters. Now I've never been much interested in the series of movies...I have yet to watch the first one...but this poster caught my eye.
It kinda reminds me of the Immortals in 300...for obvious reasons... the metal masks of course and its similar stance to the Immortals in one of promotional prints that I kinda remember seeing...Don't you think so? Though the Immortals look more sinister.
