First Choke now Invisible Monsters gets a screen adaptation.

I've just finished reading Choke recently. Now Choke isn't exactly a favourite...but it was cool... Chuck Palahniuk's books always have those edgy type of characters that are just fascinating to read...and the writing is always wicked. Thus I am still very much interested to watch the screen adaptation. Maybe as good as Fight Club eh? Saw a released still of the flick...of Victor and Denny...They do have the look that I pictured while reading the book...though they look a lot older...in fact Sam Rockwell who's playing Victor is pushing 40!!.Now in the book if not mistaken they were mid 20s...and I had hoped it was the same for the movie...at least look the age... So who else stars in it? Brad William Henke plays Denny, Kelly MacDonald is Paige Marshall and Anjelica Huston is Ida Mancini...are you kidding me...Ida was suppose to be reduced to skin and bones in the book...now I just don't see Anjelica Huston as being skin and bones...do you? Oh well...lets see if everything else works out alright...

Ok so Choke has already been made into a movie...and I did not see this coming...was just surfing the net as usual...and it seems now Invisible Monsters is also getting a screen adaptation...wow Chuck Palahniuk's works are really getting snap up fast eh.?Well IMDB.com has slated the the release at 2008...no idea if its true...the page right now is still pretty blank. At 17 Dec...its status is still in production my guess its preproduction...we still have no clue who are the actors are going to be. So I think it would be released in 2009...thats more likely. Now I have yet to read Invisible Monsters...so I guess its about time I hunt this one at the library soon. Cool! Looking forward to this flick too.

The Lookout (2007)

Yes I know…I haven’t exactly done this review things in awhile…its not that I stopped watching movies…of course not…I’m addicted to it right…its just that I’ve been lazy…And I wouldn’t exactly call any of these… reviews either…just me talking…ranting on what I thought of the flick and so on and on…so please move along…if it bores you…

Well ok…so now on to the Lookout. Been wanting to watch this for a while…but never quite got around to it until now. Heard some good things about it…especially how Joseph Gordon Levitt has again found himself another good flick. I’ve watched Brick…which he also stars and it was definitely interesting…it wasn’t the easiest of movies for me…film noir is just not my thing…in fact it’s a genre that I’ve only started watching…and for what it was…I rather like Brick…it was a modernish film noir set in a high school. It was sleek…with some crazy smart dialogue…which I like…and thus I was looking forward for the Lookout too…plus the premise of the flick seemed interesting and the trailer looks pretty cool too.

Now the Lookout is part drama part heist flick. More drama I say. Joseph Gordon Levitt plays this kid Chris Pratt the golden boy of this small town…well that’s until he and some friends got into a freak accident…which he had a hand in causing. Two of the friends died…and he suffered extensive brain damage…his memory is screwed…he has short term memory loss. To remember things he writes the simplest things in his notebook and labels furniture. Wake up. Shower. With soap. East Breakfast. Turn off lights. Go to Class. Lunch. You get the picture right? You’d can’t help feel incredibly sorry for him...for his handicap and the guilt he’s been carrying.

Joseph I think still has that brooding look on that he has in Brick…though unlike his character in Brick who behind that look was thinking…calculating his steps and what not. Here Chris Pratt is trying to remember what to do next…trying to remember the simple daily routine that he does everyday and yet fails to remember yet again everyday. So with his bad memory…the only job that he can really take is a night janitor at a local bank.

Then his life starts to change…he meets Gary Spargo…this cool tough guy (can you believe he’s that guy in Match Point…who was all class and charm…and now this rugged American bad boy…what a change!…almost did not recognise with that shaved head…if not for the obvious print of his name on the poster) who he meets at a bar and who later introduces Chris to Luvlee. So he’s starting to make friends…he even gets laid…

Then boom we learn it’s a set up!Gary and his friends have been watching Chris…he’s been picked…they are planning to rob the bank where Chris works. He has to be their key…their lookout…Whoever has the money has the power…So true…so true…How many janitors do you know have any power? I love that scene at the basement. The dialogue was just wicked. All the words just hitting Chris again and again. It was so calm…so sharp…the plan all laid out…and how Gary reeled Chris in…I say, anyone would have been reeled in…Gary was incredibly effective. I had initially thought Gary and his friends were just some dumb ass reckless youths fantasizing about robbing a bank…No doubt they are pretty reckless…but they’ve actually put a lot of thought into it…researching…thoroughly planning…In fact I find it pretty clever almost foolproof.

I won’t go much into the second half of the movie. If you’re looking for some action…the actual heist…the second part is where it is…Now will Chris really go with the heist? Will he get cold feet? Will he even remember his part of the plan? Watch it if you want to know what happens.

I like this little flick. I really do. One of the best flicks I’ve watch this year (take note I don’t go to the cinema…only dvds) At one point of time…before I had rented this…I had thought of buying it…Now I kinda thing I should have…Its one of those flicks you could still enjoy watching it the second time around and always find new stuff you hadn’t notice before. And as much as this a part heist/action movie…I think it’s the actual story...the drama that carries everything through…the characters especially…Chris is this broken guy...with soo many issues, his handicap, his guilt, his lack of social life and being his family bad apple. He's such and interesting character to watch. The other characters too, they just seemed soo real and believable though aside from Chris we know very little of Gary’s, Luvlee’s and even Lewis back story…I mean were Luvlee and Gary really inhabitants of the same town and went to the same school as Chris…and yet they were whole. So yes this movie is definitely recommended. Below is a trailer for you to check it out.

One thing though...have to say...I've always wondered how Chris is able to drive. How does he know which turn to make? Unless he has GPS.

Trailer Watch: Keira Knightley and Ralph Fiennes in The Duchess

Ok I said it lots of times before...I love period/costume dramas...I love their beautiful rich sets...their gorgeous costumes...and of course the whole drama thing...Yep. And so in 2008 comes another period piece...the Duchess starring Keira Knightley and Ralph Fiennes. Plot summary at ComingSoon.net says...Keira Knightley will play the 18th century aristocrat Georgiana, duchess of Devonshire. An ancestor of Princess Di, she lived an extravagant, profligate and promiscuous life of political and romantic intrigue, becoming an important powerbroker amid Britain's ruling elite but also running up catastrophic gambling debts. She was alternately feted and reviled, and widely caricatured by the popular press. So the teaser trailer has been released...check it out below.

Hmm...ok...I did not like the trailer...from what I've read in some places...its supposedly only a teaser trailer. Whatever it is...its pretty boring...I hope a better trailer comes along and that this is not what the actual film is gonna be like...The trailer starts of slow with an introduction of the duchess to the party...and never really builds up to anything...No big dramatic scenes...just some love scenes added near the end, to increase interest for the film no doubt. And so...what do we learn from the trailer? Georgiana is rich, has some amount of power...and was very fashionable in her time, thats about it I guess...Oh and Keira is such a skinny girl...she almost disappears in all that rich costumes...the big wigs and the heavy make up...

Despite the boring teaser...I'm still very much interested to see this flick. Lets see how this one goes...

First Speed Racer...now Dragonball gets the Hollywood touch

If you haven't heard well...Speed Racer got made into a Hollywood movie with Andy Wachowski and Larry Wachowski directing. And who plays the characters? Well its Emile Hirsch as Speed, Christina Ricci as Trixie, Susan Sarandon as Mom Racer, Matthew Fox as Racer X, John Goodman as Pops Racer and Scott Porter as Rex Racer. And oh...Rain is in it too...I'm sure his fans are very happy. The flick is slated to open 9 May 2008 (US). The trailer is also out...which you can view below.

I've never really watched the original Speed Racer anime...so I can't really say much on the trailer...I can't say if its true to the manga/anime. What it is ...is its extremely colourful...like as if all the neon lights and colours of Tokyo were thrown in it... Its quite retro looking too...Well that's pretty much what I can say about it and that its not really a flick that I would be much interested it.

And I was also surprised when I found out recently that another Japanese manga/anime series is being turned into a Hollywood flick...and that series is Dragon Ball. So what say you fans?...is that good or bad news? And like Speed Racer, its getting a pretty much white/American treatment... Goku will be played by Justin Chatwin (that guy in the Invisible), James Marsters (Spike from Buffy) as Piccolo, James Kyson Lee is rumored to play Yamcha, while Chow Yun-Fat is Master Roshi...Emmy Rossum is also attached to the flick as Bulma. Hmm...its supposed to be filming right now...so I haven't found any stills of the the Dragon Ball movie just yet. But what I did find is a pic of Justin Chatwin arriving on the set of the movie. You can view it here. Dragon Ball is slated to open 15 August 2008 (US)

First 3 shots of A Tale of Two Sisters Remake

Remember a few months ago...I said A tale of Two Sisters the Korean horror flick was getting a Hollywood remake...well it looks like filming has wrapped...and as I was surfing the net yesterday...I stumbled upon what looks like the first 3 pictures of the remake...Cool. I actually wasn't much of a fan of the original Korean version( I might be in the minority on that)...but I've heard that parts of the story has been changed a bit...and I dunno...I could just like this remake...So I am looking forward...See how well the story is translated and all. Ok so here are the pics...

And if you have never heard of the movie or this remake before. Imdb.com plot summary describes it as Based on a classic Korean folk tale infused with '70s British horror. The DreamWorks version centers on modern-day teenage sisters Anna and Alex Rydell who return home from a mental hospital only to find their recovery unraveling because of a cruel stepmother, clueless father and a lingering ghost.

Penelope...The Girl with a Snout

The first time I saw the Penelope poster, while not having heard much about the movie just yet, I had thought...that it was a children fantasy flick...an animated one perhaps...as it seemed like from the poster...and I really thought the poster was pretty, and I honestly did not notice the nose in the poster until now.

Then the one of its first trailers came out earlier this year...and I thought...it looked pretty good. And wondered what's the deal with her nose...I somehow couldn't figure out why she..they were hiding it...the plot summaries that were given never did hint what was wrong with it, just that it was a horrible curse...its suppose to be ugly...but was it that hideous...? And then that was it. Months went by...no news of the movie..and I figured it was not quite a success, fading into oblivion and would never see a release locally.

Then December came and a bunch of trailers and clips were released...and I realized that the flick has yet to released in the theaters yet.

Watching the trailer...I I like it..and would definitely want to watch the flick...its like this quirky, colourful magical storybook like comedy/drama...which kinda reminds me of Big Fish...though that wasn't exactly comedy...but the tones...the shots were almost similar...the quirkyness...yes.

And with the new trailers too...we finally get to see the story a little more...and yes we get to actually see Penelope (Christina Ricci) ...and yes she does have a snout...I know the snout was suppose to make her character hideous and all...but Penelope from the trailer seems to have such a wonderful personality that makes her extremely likable...and the snout kinda fades away I guess...and I have to say Christina Ricci appears to look very young as Penelope, very girl like. The movie also stars Reese Witherspoon as her first friend from the outside world...and James McAvoy as the love interest.

I have a feeling this is one of those movies that would have a happy ending...Penelope would end up with her prince charming who would ultimately love her for what she is...at least that's how the trailers made it out to be...Usually...I'm not interested with the type...but this one just looks funny and soo quirky...So I'm looking forward to it.

Now...check out the trailers below

More Pictures of the Other Boleyn Girl...One of Natalie Portman and Eric Bana

Just surfing the net as usual...and was glad to find that some pretty new pictures of the Other Boleyn Girl has surfaced around the net.

This one of Natalie Portman alone. Don't you think the costumes here are just gorgeous.

Again love the costumes, just beautiful. Is green Anne Boleyn's favourite colour?Just seems that all her dresses are shades of green. And finally we get a pic with Eric Bana too. And look...Natalie Portman looks like such a young girl in this pic...Get your paws of her Henry...

First Shots of Shutter Remake Has Been Released

Remember the Thai film that was released a few years back...in 2004, that was about a young couple who started finding mysterious ghostly images in their photos...Well if you haven't known yet...it has been remade...Its a American remake of course.

The story now is of a young American couple (Joshua Jackson and Rachael Taylor) who are on a honeymoon in Tokyo when they suddenly begin seeing the ghostly images in their photos. Well the first two shots of the film has been released.( Click source to view them). The pictures are not quite of good quality...quite grainy actually...but hey its something. Looks like they still kept an Asian girl as the ghost. You know I've wondered from the beginning why they decided to film in Tokyo? Its an American couple...they are after all trying to make an American remake....why not just keep things westernized and American...cause seriously...location was not wholly essential to the story. Keep it simple and concentrate on getting it right.

The original Shutter is one of my favorite scary flick...So here's hoping they don't change it to0 much and that it doesn't suck.

Opens 21 March 2008 (US)

Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2...First Shots

The first shots of the flick has been released. From what I understand...the storyline of the second movie is taken from the second, third and fourth book...mostly more of the fourth...the second and third are just compressed...to fill in the gaps. The story now takes place 3 years after the first movie. They are now starting college...continuing their separate lives while still trying to maintain the sisterhood.

I was not much of a fan of the first...but lets see how this one goes. But I do have a feeling that this one will do much better in terms of box office taking...due to the its rising stars...When the first movie was released...America Ferrera and Blake Lively were pretty much unknown faces...now they're a star of their own tv shows. America Ferrera has a hit show with Ugly Betty...playing the title role. And Blake Lively is Serena Van De Woodsen, one of the main characters of the new tv show Gossip Girls. Amber Tamblyn from Joan of Arcadia and Alexis Bledel of Gilmore Girls fame round up the rest of the sisterhood. So yes...I do thing this flick would get a little more notice.

Emma Watson (aka Hermione Granger) in Ballet Shoes

Well it seems the trailer for the tv movie is out. You can view it below.

Its seems quite likely that we here in Singapore may not get to see this since this is a bbc tv movie...we tend to not get them here...

But Hermione and Emma fans...fret not...its seems that...the tv movie will be released on dvd...so you can always order it...hehe... It should be available in January...I think...And from what I understand...you can preorder it already here.

Kristin Kreuk in Street Fighter as Chun-Li

Yep that's right...news has been going around that Kristin Kreuk will play Chun-Li Zang in Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li.

If anyone remember the 1994 Street Fighter...Ming-Na had played the particular role.

Seriously...I don't see this going well... movies of video games almost always suck...Look at ...well the first Street Fighter...and the more recent DOA.

Poster Watch: The Other Boleyn Girl

Looks like another poster...The images don't look particularly new...if not mistaken this is the exact image for the background of its official site...Can't wait for this flick...I wish they would release more publicity stills by now. We're pretty much seeing just the same things.

50 of the coolest Special Edition DVDs

Well at least I think so. I was just looking at online shops the other day...checking out dvds and saw some pretty cool stuff and thought...lets make a list. One that doesn't really look at all the technical stuff...Just good flicks that has all the extra goodies and those that come in pretty cool packaging too. Plus the holidays are here. Christmas is around the corner and you might be looking for gifts for friends or family or maybe a gift to give yourself. They're into movies. This list might just give you some great gift ideas for that movie fan...Though I have to say I've haven't even watch some of them...but one can always appreciate a fully loaded dvd full of features and one with great packaging...especially great packaging...don't you think? We all buy into it. :)

In Random Order

1.The Graduate (40th Anniversary Collector's Edition)

Packaging: Nothing grand...just a simple dvd case

What's Inside: This is a two disc set. From what I understand the first disc is the movie...and the second disc is a soundtrack cd. Bonus Features...There's a commentary by Dustin Hoffman and Katherine Ross and another by Mike Nichols.Trailers. And several featurettes including Students of the Graduate and The Graduate at 25.

Why get this?? Well I've heard good things about this edition....the transfers are supposedly good...plus this has more bonus features than its other previous releases...and well this also has that little soundtrack cd included.Lastly...this is a great film too...one of my favourites.

2. V for Vendetta (Two-Disc Collector's Edition w/ Mask)

Packaging: Its a two disc set in a neat little box.

What's Inside: Bonus features includes Freedom! Forever! Making V for Vendetta and Designing the Near Future and others. There's the Cat Power Montage and Theatrical Trailer. Gifts include 4 lobby cards and of course the Guy Fawkes mask.

Great Movie here. I actually own the two disc set...but not this collectors set (which is a pity)...and I actually think the amount of bonus features is disappointing...I had hoped for more...More about how it was made...more about adapting it from the graphic novel...I would just loved to see more...and If I'm not wrong there isn't even a commentary...but this set is pretty sweet...with the lobby cards and that mask...I like...And if you're a collector...hunt this one down.

3. Chronicles of Narnia - The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe (Four-Disc Extended Edition + Bookend Gift Set)

Packaging: Pretty. It comes in a trunk like box...and you can see all the goodies inside.

Director and Kids' Commentary. Discover Narnia Fun Facts.Bloopers of Narnia. Anatomy of a Scene: Behind the Battle. Art of Narnia Gallery and many others. And the gifts is a pair of bookends.

Nice little set. A very generous serving of bonus features that would satisfy the Narnia movie fans. Plus there's the bookends...and I think its a very fitting choice of gift for a gift set seeing that this is an adaptation. And this is still available at Amazon.

4. Breakfast at Tiffany's (Special Anniversary Collector's Edition)

Packaging: Another pretty set...with a bow on top.

What's inside: Bonus Features includes.
Commentary. The Making Of A Classic. It's So Audrey: A Style Icon. Brilliance In A Blue Box. Audrey's Letter to Tiffany. Theatrical Trailer.

Love the packaging...it would definitely appeal to girls. This edition also has more bonus features compared to the other editions...that's always good. And...its going pretty cheap now too..About 10 bucks...Grab it now!

5. King Kong - Peter Jackson's Production Diaries

Packaging: Great looking...Simply love it. The box is made to look like some sort of leather briefcase. And the disc case is made to look like clipboard...Very clever.

What's Inside: Other than the production diaries itself...There's
a 52-Page Full-Color Production Memoir and 4 Exclusive Production Art Prints.

This one I'd say is strictly for the King Kong and Peter Jackson fan...because there's tons of well...production stuff...and no movie. But the packaging...its just soo pretty.

6. King Kong (Deluxe Extended Limited Edition DVD Gift Set)

Packaging: A simple box.

What's Inside: This is a 3 disc set. Lots of bonus material...Some of which are trailers, deleted scenes, gag reels, commentary and the featurette
Recreating the Eighth Wonder: The Making of King Kong.

The packaging looks pretty boring...The Production Diaries certainly has a more attractive packaging. But this set does come with tons of bonus stuff which fans would like...and there's that little gift of that statue of King Kong climbing.

7. Scream Trilogy - Boxed Set

Packaging: A simple black box

What's Inside: All 3 movies...and a bunch of extra materials for each movie which includes...deleted scenes, trailers, behind the scenes, outtakes, production featurette...And also an extra dvd rom included.

The Scream movies...are the 90's slasher flick...and well this is the ultimate trilogy to get if you love the genre and the series. There's definitely tons of extras for your viewing pleasure.

8. The Adventures of Indiana Jones

Packaging: Another simple looking box.

What's Inside: All 3 movies. There's also a feature length documentary Indiana Jones Making of the Trilogy which is about 2 hours long. And there's also 4 more featurettes.

This isn't a grand boxset, when compared to other movie boxsets that have been released the last few years...but Indiana Jones movies are always fun and entertaining...and with the new movie coming out soon...you might want a recap...this would be perfect.

9.
Cinderella (Disney Special Platinum Edition Collector's Gift Set)

Packaging: Nice little blue set

What's Inside: Well apparently lots of bonus features. Such as...
All-New Music Videos. Deleted Scenes. Making of Cinderella. Trailers. Princess Pyjama Jam. Sneak peek of Cinderella III . ESPN Classic: Cinderella Stories...among others.

Ahh...the classic Disney 2D fairytale cartoons...Kinda miss those ya. This set looks pretty good...A good bunch of extras...fun stuff for the kids too.

10. The Godfather DVD Collection

Packaging: A simple boxset

What's Inside: All 3 movies. A bunch of extras including...commentary, a documentary The Godfather Family: A Inside Look, storyboards, making of, galleries trailers...and others.

Its an ok looking set...I expected more...from a movie with such a status...but the extras should satisfy the fans.

11.
The Complete Omen Collection

Packaging: Another simple boxset...Dear old Damien is on the cover art.

What's Inside: The 4 Omen movies and The Omen 2006 remake. Bonus features wise...for Omen 2,3 and 4 there's not much just commentaries and trailers. but for the Omen and its remake...there's a ton of stuff....Commentaries, Trailers, deleted scenes, Screenwriter notebook, Still galleries, behind the scenes...

The Omen is pretty much a classic horror flick...If you love the original...check out the rest of the sequels...though of course they could never match the quality or success of the original...having said that, this a pretty decent set...5 movies in total...lots of extras for the fans too.

12.
Sin City - Unrated (Two-Disc Collector's Edition)

Packaging: Another simple boxset

What's Inside: Where do I begin...There's two versions of the movies...the recut, extended and unrated version and the theatrical version. Tons of special features like trailers, 2 commentaries, Featurettes on costumes, make-up cars and others...Plus..the set the graphic novel the Hard Goodbye.

The packaging is simple enough...but this is a pretty impressive set.It contains 2 version of the movies... the extended one contains about 20 mins of previously unseen footage...theres a generous serving of bonus stuff...and and...they also include the graphic novel...I like it.

13.
Scarface Deluxe Gift Set - Scarface

Packaging: Its gorgeous. It comes it leather bound like...oops more like alligator skin like box...Cool.

What's Inside: There's the Anniversary edition of Scarface which has bonus features like...

14. Jason Bourne Collection

Packaging: A silver coloured box.

What's Inside: All 3 movies. Several bonus features including even more deleted scenes from the 3 movies. Featurettes like...The Bourne Diagnosis and Keep It Real...and more.

I think the packaging looks pretty cool...the movie all comes in individual case in the set... And I really like the case of the bonus disc which is made to look like a passport...Cool

15.
Seven (New Line Platinum Series)

Packaging: Nice...Its looks normal enough at first with a black box...but take it out...and the disc are contained in a case that looks like a notebook...the insides of it are made to look like dirty pages complete with blood smudges and all...

What's Inside: There's two disc...which means plenty of bonus features...there's 4 commentaries, deleted scenes, alternate scenes, still galleries, trailers...there's even some dvd rom stuff.

Seven is a really great suspense thriller and this looks like an excellent release that it so deserve...An guess what its going pretty cheap on Amazon right now...yep its a whopping $8.99.

16.

Packaging: Simple red box

What's Inside: The box actually promises 5 hours of bonus features that include...commentaries, galleries, making the film, outtakes and more...And...the set also comes with the first Lemony Snicket's book....I like that

I actually like the this movie...its like a goth children's tale....its bleak...but not too scary for the kids. I love the set... the costumes...the goth part...that looks all like a Tim Burton movie. Now the set looks pretty cool to me....Extras look ok...and the book is a definite plus.

17.

The Pink Panther, A Shot In The Dark, The Pink, Panther Strikes Again, Revenge Of The Pink Panther, Trail Of The Pink Panther. Special features ... commentary, documentary, trivia track and a few cartoons.

Not much of special features but...the packaging is great...some retro illustration for the disc holders pretty cool...for anyone who loves the Pink Panther.

25. UA 90th Anniversary Prestige Collection

Packaging: Its a huge book with all the discs slotted it.

What's Inside: Well 90 movies. I'm not sure if there are any bonus features but some of the 90 films include, 12 Angry Men, Some Like It Hot, Carrie, Rock, Rain Man, Pieces of April...

This is a massive...massive set!!!...I like the packaging...it looks great...and the huge book...it all looks very exclusive... And 90 flicks...
...wow...and I have yet to watch a lot of them...so I want this...aww... but I'm not rich...so this is out of the question.

26. James Bond Ultimate Collector's Set

Packaging: The set comes in a sleek black diamond pattern box.

Whats Inside:
All 21 James Bond movies, including the latest Casino Royale. And each movie has its own bonus disc of special features so that brings a total of 42 discs. Wow that should really satisfy the ultimate James Bond fan right?

Overall I think it looks ok...but if I'm not mistaken its just pretty much a compilation of the previous James Bond Ultimate Edition volumes plus the Casino Royale, packed together. So if you've already owned some of the other boxsets...this would not appeal to you. And the other downside...
they'll probably come up with other new greater boxset when the new James Bond movie comes out...I mean...theres always another James Bond movie in the works right?

27. Alfred Hitchcock – The Masterpiece Collection

Packaging:
Just a simple velvet boxset. The cover image is quite nice...simple yet classic looking, nice colour too

There's a total of 14 films. There's Psycho ,Vertigo, Rear Window,The Birds, Shadow of a Doubt, Family Plot, Frenzy, The Man Who Knew Too Much, Marnie , Rope , Saboteur, Topaz , Torn Curtain , The Trouble with Harry. What's more each film is said to have its own set of features that includes the likes of features, galleries, deleted scenes and trailers.

I say...this is definitely for any Hitchcock fan.

28. Titanic (Three-Disc Special Collector's Edition)

Packaging: It isn't all that grand...just a simple 3 disc set...You kinda expect a better packaging for the biggest earning movie of all time.

What's Inside: There's loads. Theres 3 commentaries in total. Behind the scenes. 29 Deleted Scenes. A Music Video...of that all famous song. A large still gallery. And of course a few featurettes. Wow thats a lot!!

Ok...so the packaging is boring...but it does make up in content...it is a pretty fully loaded set. Titanic fans would love this.

29. Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition

Packaging: A cool tin case

What's Inside: It has all of the Superman movies of course! Superman 1-4, Superman II the Richard Donner cut and Superman Returns and tons and tons of special features that includes tons of commentaries, trailers, deleted scenes and featurettes...which would be all but too long to list here.

Now... does it not have everything that a Superman fan would want in a dvd? With a nice packaging to boot...this would make a really good gift.

30. The Royal Tenenbaums (The Criterion Collection)

Packaging: A simple dvd case, rather cute...the cover art that makes it look like a book.

What's Inside: There's the usual commentaries, still galleries, trailers, a look at the set...

Ok I'm a tad bias...one of the reasons I added this to the list is because this is one of my favourite movies. Plus I have also gotten to see this Criterion Collection. Loved the simple packaging...and the extras are all equally satisfying. Definitely something you'd want to get if you loved the movie.

31. 300 - Limited Edition Best Buy Box Set w/ Helmet - 2-Disc Widecreen DVD

Packaging:
Depends where you're from I guess...because the packaging can defer slightly. Usually its a simple box...which contains both the two disc dvd and of course that little helmet that any dvd collector would want. And I think there's even a box out there released with the Immortal mask. Cool.

What's Inside: Other than the helmet...the dvd set includes commentaries, several featurettes including a making of and 300 Spartans: Fact or Fiction?, deleted scenes and some webisodes.

The movie was entertaining and of course visually stunning...A pretty generous serving of extras...and that helmet is a definite plus.

32. Star Wars Trilogy

Packaging:
Just a simple black silver box with an image of Darth Vader...quite a disappointing package....no extra gifts for the collectors?

What's Inside: Well its the cleaned up version of the trilogy thats include some newly added scenes. Extras wise... There's commentaries for all 3 movies, Trailers and tv spots, still galleries, the documentary Empire of dreams and a bunch of featurettes.

A reasonable amount of extras...which should satisfy the Star Wars fan...though I say they could come up with a more unique looking boxset...I mean its Star Wars...don't they always do things big...

33.
Pride & Prejudice: Deluxe 2-Disc DVD Gift Set

Beautiful beautiful packaging...the photo book and soundtrack...is a wonderful extra. I would love to own this.

34. Spider-Man: The Motion Picture DVD Trilogy

Packaging: A simple looking boxset of the 3 movies

What's Inside: From what I understand, the Blu Ray version of the trilogy does not have any special features for the first two Spider-Man movie...what a pity. But this dvd version is packed with features, from commentaries to blooper reels to music videos to featurettes, to galleries and trailers for all the movies.

So the packaging is boring and mediocre but hey, the Spider-Man movies are fun and entertaining...and this set comes with hours of features I say that's a pretty good deal.

36.
Grease: Rockin' Rydell Edition

Packaging: Again depending where you're from, the packaging defers. UK has a silver box packaging and the US version has a jacket packaging, where you can get either one with a T-Birds jacket or a Pink Ladies one. Sweet.

What's Inside: A commentary, Rydell Sing-Along, 11 deleted scenes, Photo Galleries, Trailers and several other featurettes.

I just love the packaging...cute...and if you don't, you can just take the jacket off and it wouldn't look any less. And...the extras look pretty fun too.

37.
Alien Quadrilogy

Packaging:
A simple looking black boxset with a pretty cool looking image on the cover.

What's I
nside: Well theres a whole lot...Theres the 4 movies in total...but the set also gives at least two versions of each movie...a theatrical or a special edition one. Extras...from what I've read theres a staggering 45 hours of extras...so where to begin?....theres the commentaries, photo galleries, trailers, deleted scenes and ton tons of documentaries/featurettes...and so on...

41.
Pan's Labyrinth (Limited Deluxe Edition)

Packaging:
Just beautiful...its made to look like one of those leather bound books...beautiful I say.

What's Inside: From the pictures there are two disc...So I'm assuming this contains the 2 disc platinum series...where the extras include commentaries, several features, DVD comics, Interviews with the director, galleries and other stuff.

From what I understand, this is a Korean limited edition set. Not fair...not fair...it looks gorgeous...why issit not available in region 1 or here, locally?? I soo want this... Collectors...you might want to hunt this down.

42. The Exorcist - The Complete Anthology

Packaging:
Another simple boxset...cover art is that of the original exorcist

What's Inside: 5 movies in total...Exorcist 1,2,3,the beginning and Dominion. Extras...most of them are for the original Exorcist...there's a making of, some trailers, interviews among others.

Not that anyone really care for the other movies. But if you're a horror fan or love the Exorcist...now it comes in two version with a bunch of other Exorcist movies and there's some extras thrown in...plus the set comes pretty cheap now...around 20 bucks.

43.The Lord of the Rings - The Motion Picture Trilogy (Platinum Series Special Extended Edition)

48.
Gone With The Wind (Limited Edition Deluxe Box Set)

Packaging: A simple black box

What's Inside:
8 Original Limited Edition Lobby Card Prints. Photograph Cards. Theatrical Poster. Theatrical Trailers.

So this set doesn't have much special features...in fact I think the trailers are just about it...But if you want all those photos and poster which looks lovely...this is the set to get.

49. Clueless (Special Whatever! Edition)

Packaging:
A typical disc box...but its of course all in pink

What's Inside: Theres the trailers and a few featurettes like
